Hospital Employees Received Foundation Scholarships

Sioux Center Community Hospital & Health Center Foundation is awarding scholarships to individuals who are planning a career in a healthcare field.  These scholarships are awarded to employees continuing their education in their current position or pursuing continuing education to enhance their employability within the organization.

"Sioux Center Community Hospital & Health Center supports continued education that will develop or increase employee competence and encourage students to pursue careers in healthcare. It is an integral part of our mission to ensure healthcare professionals are available to provide optimal healthcare to our community," said Kayleen Lee, the organization's CEO.

This year there are six scholarships awarded of $500 each.  Recipients of the 2009 Sioux Center Community Hospital & Health Center Foundation Scholarships are: Kimberly Bosma (Certified Nurses Aide at Royale Meadows Care Center) of Hospers who plans to pursue nursing or nurse practitioner; Karisa Friedmann (Purchasing Stock Clerk) of Sioux Center who plans to pursue nursing; Lisa Goedhart (Universal Worker at Franken Manor and Crown Pointe) of Sioux Center who plans to pursue nursing; Esther Van Der Brink (Certified Medical Aide at Crown Pointe) of Sioux Center who plans to pursue nursing; and Tyler Vermeer, son of Wade and Barb Vermeer (Education and Infection Control Supervisor) of Sioux Center who plans to pursue chiropractic medicine.

"I am very pleased that the Foundation board is committed to supporting these endeavors," said Les Brommer, Foundation Board President. "It is a great honor to be able to help support these students in their education within the healthcare field."
