Sioux Center Medical Clinic given quality award from Wellmark
For the third year in a row, the physicians and a nurse practitioner at the Sioux Center Medical Clinic were awarded for their participation in the Collaboration on Quality® Primary Care Program sponsored by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. This Wellmark-sponsored performance improvement program is designed to support primary care clinicians in their effort to improve the quality and efficiency of the health care provided to their patients, and is part of Wellmark's Collaboration on Quality® initiative. The award recipients exceeded the defined measures in all suites of the program.
"This speaks well to the tremendous care patients receive in Sioux Center and Hull," said Mary McClung, Medical Clinic Director. "I am so pleased that Wellmark has recognized the level of quality that our medical team provides to our communities."
The goal of this program is to support the clinician/patient relationship and support the delivery of the best possible health care for Wellmark members. The program is designed to encourage improved performance of network clinicians, to assist participants in identifying their opportunities to improve performance, and to reward those who meet or exceed established standards.
Information on care delivered by clinicians in the program is collected, analyzed and compared to performance measures of clinical care endorsed by the National Quality Forum and other nationally recognized measurement organizations. The Physician Advisory Quality Team identified performance measures focused on specific chronic conditions, diseases and preventive care services.
The year, the suites included a Generic Prescribing Award, Diabetes Care Award, Hypertension Care Award, Childhood Immunization Award, Asthma Award and E-prescribing Award.
