Weight Support Group – Weigh-in is every Monday at noon at the Court House Community Room from Noon – 1 p.m. – Is on-going, so you may join anytime – Call Janice Bender 539-9701 for details.

Health Care Special Events
Blood Pressure Clinic – Wednesday, Feb. 1 – Normally held the first Wednesday of each month –Community Senior Center from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (No clinic at Hillcrest Apartments Community Room this month) – This free service is being provided by the Springs Parish Nurse.
Wessington Springs Legislative Day – Tuesday, Feb. 14 in Pierre - Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital will be joining the School & Area Development Corporation to display promotional material about Wessington Springs at the State Capitol. Dr. Tom Dean will be designated as Doctor for the Day at the Capitol.
HIPE Week – Feb. 6-10 - During HIPE (Healthcare In Partnership With Education) Week, members of the Health Education Team partner to sponsor a variety of activities to encourage students to consider a healthcare career - Some of the activities planned for this year include a mock accident, Health Careers Detectives Game, “How Epidemics Spread” lab activity, healthcare pictionary, food pyramid tag and a healthcare grab bag - The hospital, manor, clinic and county health nurse partner to offer student activities during the week.
2012 Farm & Home Show – Monday, February 20th from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. - Wessington Springs Elementary Gym – Heart & Diabetes Displays, Manor Volunteer Interactive Games, Tips on How To Quit Smoking, Farm & Seat Belt Safety Information, & Affects of Soda Pop on Teeth – Stop by for free blood sugar checks – Don’t forget the Roses Just Because fundraiser – Sign up for prizes!
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. - Presentation by P.A. Terri Groves – Seat Belt Safety
10:45 – 11:15 a.m. - Presentation by Helene Vander Werff, Parish Nurse - “Small steps—Big rewards! How to prevent getting diabetes!”- Those attending will receive a pedometer & educational materials. Karen Michelson, Horizon Health Diabetes Educator will also be available during the presentation & at the booth to answer questions.
