A Secret No More!

The Octave Day of the Nativity of the Lord

The shepherds hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. (Luke 2: 16-18)

Did you have an amazing time this Christmas? Did you see children "with their eyes all aglow?" Maybe you got tears in your eyes remembering "Christmas of long, long ago." Did you get to sing your favorite Christmas carols near a beautifully lit tree?  Were you moved again to hear the Christmas story as recorded in the book of Luke?

Just imagine the excitement of the shepherds, who were the first to see the long awaited Messiah! They could not keep the news a secret and ran off to tell their friends and probably people at the local café. The town of Bethlehem was abuzz with the news. If those shepherds had a Twitter account, the news would have been around the world in seconds.

It is now our turn to be amazed and grateful to know of the birth of Jesus Christ, who was sent to the world for everyone. We can spread the news of the love of God
whether we do it by talking, singing, sending messages by Facebook or Twitter, helping, or sharing our God-given gifts.

Dear God, Heavenly Father,

thank You for the shepherds who were the first missionaries.

Help each of us, in our own way, spread the word that Christ was born for all of us.

Ignite our hearts with that amazement. In Christ’s Name we pray. Amen.
