“In the written scroll it is prescribed for me. To do your will, O my God, is my delight, and your law is within my heart!” (Psalm 40:7-8)
I am in the process of reading a book titled "Blessed are the Bored in Spirit: A Young Catholic's Search for Meaning" by Mark Hart. Some of the reasons I chose this book are to refresh and deepen the knowledge of my religion, to engage my two sons in discussion about why we go to church and to reiterate that God accepts us for who we are and is there to help us be all that we can be.
In the book the author challenges readers to think about the readings and what is happening throughout the Mass and its significance. Although I am Catholic and the book speaks of my religion, I think everyone can take this to heart no matter what church you attend. While reading this book, I realized that God's law IS within my heart even though I don't always acknowledge and appreciate it as I should. Many of us are striving for an inner peace and love that only God can provide.
Going forward, take time each day to find things for which you are grateful. This may include your health and the health of your family, the sunshine or the first sip of coffee each morning. It's the simple things in life that make it meaningful, and we can thank God for giving them to us. Take time in your busy life to sit back and listen to the quiet call of God and be delighted that He is in your life!!
