“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.…Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’” (Luke 10:1-9)
As we close out this week, there would be no better way to confirm our Avera work! Its as if Saint Luke knew our needs thousands of years before they would be known to us. In his writings, he scribes the message of Jesus, Yes, this is going to be a very big job, but I will be with you as you encounter the difficulties. Carry on steadfast as my heart and hands with everyone you meet.
The Avera harvest is very big. There are many patients, family members and coworkers who need our kindness, compassion and talents. Sometimes we may feel ill-equipped or unprepared to take on such a huge undertaking. But this is exactly when Christ walks right beside us, guiding us through this harvest that is the care we deliver and the work each of us does every day.
Thank You, Lord, for the opportunity to serve You in this way!
