Rejoice in All Things

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Saturday of the Thirty-Second Week in Ordinary Time

“Sing to Him, sing His praise, proclaim all His wondrous deeds. Glory in His holy name; Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord!” (Psalm 105: 2-3)

Sometimes it can be difficult to feel like rejoicing. It is cold, gloomy and raining outside today. My house is messy, and I have several loads of laundry to do tonight when I get home. The pile of work on my desk waiting to be done is growing at an alarming pace! At times like these, it can be so easy to focus on the negative, grumble and complain.

Instead, wouldn't it be better if I looked for the positive? It may be raining and cold, but the rain will help the plants grow in the spring. My house might be messy and filled with dirty laundry, but I have a warm house and clothes to wear. My pile of work is growing, but I have a job that allows me to help others be well and provide for my family. God has granted me so many gifts. He is so worthy of praise!

God, giver of all good gifts

Help me to realize my blessings today and every day

and to offer my praise and gratitude to You for all that is good in my life.

Through Your holy Name. Amen.
