“Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief chamberlain had put in charge of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, ‘Please test your servants for ten days. Give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then see how we look in comparison with the other young men who eat from the royal table, and treat your servants according to what you see.’ He acceded to this request, and tested them for ten days; after ten days they looked healthier and better fed than any of the young men who ate from the royal table.” (Daniel 1:10-14)
A diet of vegetables sounds pretty healthy to those of us looking to shed a little weight, but these men had just marched from Jerusalem. Ultimately, it was the Lord who blessed them with knowledge and strength that was gained as a result of Daniel's faith.
This scripture tells me that the Lord is willing to bless those who put their faith and trust in Him. As many of us consider our work in health care as a "calling," having faith in God opens the door to new opportunities to move forward doing His will with the talents He has given each of us.
