The Gift of Song

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Saturday of the Third Week of Advent

“Give thanks to the Lord on the harp; With the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises. Sing to him a new song; Pluck the strings skillfully, with shouts of gladness.” (Psalm 33:2-3)

At any time of the year or season, we are blessed with the gift of music and song, but during the Advent and Christmas season we have the special music of Christmas carols:  Joy to the World, Silent Night, Away in a Manger and more.

These songs tell the story of Christ's birth and how so many people are touched by the tiny little babe coming into the world. When we experience and participate in this special gift, we are reminded of how Christ came into the world as part of God's plan so that we may all be included in everlasting life in heaven when we leave this world.

What wonderful love and care He showers us with! May we all take the time and opportunity to share that love with those around us.

Heavenly Father,

we thank You for sending Your Son to us in the form of a tiny newborn baby,

and for Your blessings of love that You freely give to us,

with no conditions attached.

Help us to use Your gifts to bless others.

Amen.
