Today being Valentine's Day, this refrain from the Psalm telling me to "Hear my voice" resonated because what usually follows is, "Follow your heart."
As a therapist, I often had clients struggling to increase their faith say to me, "God is not answering me," or "Why doesn't God talk to me?" I ask them, "Are you listening with your head or with your heart?"
Growing up I found the same to be true. Often the voice I heard in my head was that of a parent. Today I have learned that when I listen with my heart, it is God working in my life. He talks to me through my work, family, friends, quiet times, lonely and sick times, and always through prayer time.
"I am the Lord, your God; hear my voice" also tells me to not only hear His voice, but also to know no other gods before Him. He is my Lord, my God, and it is my prayer every day to keep Him the center of my being, the center of my universe.
