Make The Week Holy!

Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion
God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11)
This weekend in celebrating Palm Sunday as we do every year we enter Holy Week just as Jesus entered Jerusalem to be handed over. My reflection surfaced this question for me, “How shall I make this a Holy Week in my life?” I was not as faithful to my Lenten journey as I set out to be. I am thankful God calls more than once and is faithful even when we are not and God continues to knock on our doorsteps and call us back. There is so much to consider in the readings for today especially with the reading of the passion of Jesus that sets the stage for the week ahead and gives us images of the suffering endured for us.
A good place for me to begin is to pause, take more time to ponder and be aware that this time of Holy Week 2014 will never come again so the time is now. It seems so simple to do letting the spirit lead and guide and allowing ourselves to be open. Simple? Yes? Maybe, yet requires attention with giving the time and space to hear God’s call to openness, service, and forgiveness to love as Jesus does walking the path He walked. A favorite psalm of mine for beginning prayer is Psalm 25, “Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my savior and for you I wait all the day.”
To begin to make this week holy I choose this mantra and pray that I will be led in walking the road of the passion with Jesus.
lead us in patiently sharing in the sufferings of Christ this week
and prepare us to enter into Your resurrection with joy, peace and love. Amen
