“All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God. Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; break into song; sing praise.” (Psalm 98:4)
Easter is a time for joy. It is also a time to praise the Lord for His wonderful love for us and for the many sacrifices He made for us when He suffered and died on the cross.
Someone once said,“He who sings prays twice.” The actual origin of this phrase is debated. One source says it came from St. Augustine who actually said, “For he who sings praise does not only praise, but also praises joyfully, he who sings praise, not only sings, but also loves Him who he is singing about/to/for.”
Singing is a way that we can express our love to and for God. God loves to hear and receive our love through our voices singing to Him. Singing is life-giving not only to God and ourselves, but also for others. Singing can feed our souls and lift others’ spirits, as well as our own.
Other benefits of singing include:
· A feeling of well-being and happiness
· Reduced stress
· Stronger immune system and heart and lungs
God blesses us with voices and song, not only to praise and bless Him, but also to bless ourselves and others. So use your voice and break into song to be a blessing to God and to others this Easter season and beyond.
