Monday of the Sixth Week of Easter

“The Lord takes delight in his people.” (PSALM 149:4)

Webster defines a delight as, “Something giving great joy or pleasure.” When was the last time you were “delighted” by someone?

When, after a long trip, I spot my husband standing just past the glass doors at the Sioux Falls airport, my heart smiles. When my grown son calls me from California to say, “Hi mom, I was just thinking of you,” my eyes leak mom tears. When I come home from working overnights and my two crazy greyhounds are excited to see me, I feel important. When a coworker greets me with a hug and says, “I missed my Margie smiles,” I am honored. As I write this I realize that I am delighted by people, animals and events all the time.

To think that God, my Heavenly Father is delighted in me is mind boggling. I am not a great theologian, but I don’t believe God has human-like emotions. But just think if He does. His heart would smile, He would have dad tears and He would feel important and honored by many of my actions and thoughts. Wow!

Take a moment and think back over the past 24 hours. Did you notice the times that you were delighted in others? Think back and smile. The Lord delights in you.

God, my Heavenly Father,

thank You for seeing my actions and thoughts that delight You.

Please help me overcome those areas that don’t delight You.

Thank You for sending people and events to my life that show me

You are ever-present in my life.

Through Christ, God with us. Amen.
