“For God who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of Jesus Christ.”(2 Corinthians 4:6)
Have you ever dismissed an item while shopping? Just not interested; couldn’t see the need? I’m a visual sort of person. Very often I’m unimpressed with the benefit of an item unless I see a clear demonstration, hence the role of floor models.
Today’s passage speaks about people, some only seeing surface things and some seeing more. Like the floor model, my life as a Christian is on display to friends, family, neighbors and coworkers. Like it or not, my values are being tested every day. Even if others express no desire for my belief system, they often know even better than I do the specifications of my “brand.” Perhaps they are checking to see whether I am “the genuine article” or just a knock-off.
Because I wear the label of Jesus, I really want them to see the clear evidence of His handiwork: freedom, encouragement, peace, kindness, truth and justice. Floor models don’t have the luxury of being left alone. They are out for all to see. In spite of dings and scratches, some will help others to decide to “buy in,” to want what the manufacturer has to offer. I want to be a floor model: out of the box, on display, plugged in, demonstrating the Manufacturer’s built-in design … attractive!
