“In an acceptable time I heard you, and on the day of salvation I helped you.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)
This passage says that God hears us and will help us. How many times in your life have you wondered if God has heard your prayers? And you expected Him to answer, only to have the answer after the crisis has passed? My Mom always said, “It is not in your time, it is God’s time. He will never put more on your plate than you can handle.”
This past Christmas, our 18 month-old grandson was very sick with influenza and ended up in the Emergency Room of our hospital. We prayed for God to heal him so he could enjoy all the family Christmas parties that were happening. The next morning our son called to let us know that they were transferring our grandson to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center for more pediatric care. I had the opportunity to care for him in the ambulance on the ride to Sioux Falls as an EMT/grandpa. The family missed Christmas parties and Christmas presents, but my grandwon was able to come home on December 26, and he continues to be a healthy, vibrant little boy. We knew God had answered our prayers, but on His schedule.
God has always been with me throughout all the trials I have faced in my life. Through sickness, death of a loved one, financial insecurities, family troubles — everything I have faced — God has always answered me. Sometimes it has not been what I wanted, but it always has made me a better person. How about you? Today let’s thank God for being there for us all day, every day.
